The Mangotsfield Sort It centre will be temporarily closed to the general public for two weeks from 16 to 30 November.

The entrance road to the Mangotsfield Sort It centre is in urgent need of repair. The current surface is starting to degrade and break apart and the adhesive surface has been worn away, providing very little traction to vehicles leaving the site on to Carsons Road. The closure will enable us to carry out this urgent renovation work to the entrance and at the same time we will be adding three more parking bays to improve the unloading area for residents.

These repairs need to be carried out now to ensure that the surface doesn’t degrade any further over the winter months. The temporary closure is necessary as the repair work requires the complete removal and replacement of the concrete base at the entrance.

Residents wishing to dispose of their waste and recycling during this period will still be able to use the other three Sort It centres in South Gloucestershire which are located at Little Stoke, Yate and Thornbury.

Communities Chair Cllr Heather Goddard said: “The road surface at the entrance to the Mangotsfield Sort It centre has worn away and is starting to break apart, so needs to be repaired as soon as possible before it gets any worse. The closure is absolutely essential in order for us to carry out these urgent repairs, and we are also using the opportunity to improve the residents’ unloading area at the same time.”

The work is expected to take two weeks and will be carried out between 16 and 30 November.

Please note that the Little Stoke Sort It centre has a height barrier and trailers are not allowed on the site. The following items cannot be accepted at the Little Stoke site:
• paper
• food and drink cans, aerosols and foil
• plastic bottles and food packaging
• glass bottles and jars
• tyres
• plasterboard
• rubble and hardcore.
