The community radio station open weekend takes place between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September, at the Brook Way Activity Centre in Bradley Stoke. Visitors will be able to check out Bradley Stoke Radio’s broadcast studio, meet the presenters and back room assistants and find out how the community radio station works. There will also be an opportunity for visitors to record their own radio broadcast and take a souvenir copy home with them.
Other events taking place over the next seven days of the festival include a series of MacMillan Big Coffee mornings as part of their World’s Biggest Coffee Morning fundraising event. These are taking place between 10am and 12pm at Cadbury Heath Library and Yate Library on Thursday 26 September, and at Chipping Sodbury Library and Filton Library on Friday 27 September.
An evening of cabaret featuring live music and a three course meal takes place at Brooks Café in Patchway on Friday 27 September. There is also a festival of food taking place in Chipping Sodbury on Saturday 28 September and an author talk by bestseller Tim Weaver at Emersons Green Library on Tuesday 1 October.
The Discover Festival offers a unique opportunity for residents to find out what makes South Gloucestershire a great place to live and work. Bringing together many successful celebrations in the district, the programme caters for all ages and tastes – including events, talks, walks and workshops celebrating local heritage, food, nature, arts and also special events for the over 50s.

The Hearing Impaired Support Scheme will be available to offer support with NHS hearing aids and give advice on support services and equipment for the hard of hearing.
Cabaret evening and meal

A cabaret evening with live music from a soulful female singer who will be showcasing songs from the 1940s through to the 1960s, accompanied by a delicious three course meal. To book call 07969 627104.
Chipping Sodbury Festival of Food

This popular annual event includes beer and food tastings, cookery demonstrations and samplings at many of the town’s shops, restaurants and public houses. Learn about adult cycle confidence training, have a free bike check with Dr Bike or buy a helmet. Visitors can also take a free eye screening test.

Visit your local community radio station to meet the presenters and back room boffins. Visitors can record their own broadcast, take a copy home as a souvenir and find out how the station works. The workspace is unsuitable for wheelchairs and buggies.
Wild food and fungi walk
Warmley Forest Park, Warmley

Discover wild edibles and fungi with local naturalist, Justin Smith. Strong footwear and outdoor clothing are advised. Meet at the main park entrance on London Road (opposite the Midland Spinner pub).
