Arthur, who contributed much to local government during his long and distinguished service, was chair of South Gloucestershire Council for two years running, from 1999-2001.

He was also a ward councillor for Bradley Stoke from the beginning of South Gloucestershire Council until 2003, a member of Bradley Stoke Town Council and a member for Yate Town Council prior to his death.

Arthur’s funeral will be held on Thursday, 30 August at 3.15pm at Westerleigh Church.
