The Strategy was drawn up by the South Gloucestershire Partnership of voluntary, private and public sector organisations following public consultation last year.
It describes the shared vision of the people who live and work in South Gloucestershire and aims to help agencies work together to tackle cross-cutting challenges in key policy areas such as the economy, the environment and public health.
South Gloucestershire Council executive member for Health, External Affairs and Partnership Development, and Chair of the South Gloucestershire Partnership,Heather Goddard said the strategy would help guide partners’ work in meeting the needs and aspirations of local people.
She said: “This is an important document, not only because it describes what local people want for the district but also because it helps Partnership members to work together and deliver more for our community.
“The challenge now is to translate the high-level vision into practical actions that can help us meet our goal of ensuring that South Gloucestershire continues to be a great place to live, work and grow up.”
The Strategy will be considered at the next full council meeting prior to final sign-off.
More than 1,000 local groups and community organisations were consulted in the preparation of the strategy and it will be reviewed regularly over the next 14 years to make sure that it continues to respond to the district’s aspirations, needs and challenges.
Copies of the Strategy are available from the council’s Strategic Partnership and Planning team via email on strategicplanning@southglos.gov.uk or telephone 01454 863 868.
