The Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) facility will be based at Chipping Sodbury Secondary School and will cater for up to eight young people with more complex needs who will benefit from being educated closer to home.

In February, the council approved funding of £500,000 from its capital programme to develop a unit. Consultation was carried out and Chipping Sodbury School was identified as a location which had suitable accommodation.

Subject to publication of a statutory consultation, the unit could be up and running after Easter 2014.
