The result of the 2016 Police and Crime Commissioner election for the Avon and Somerset area has been declared.

Sue Mountstevens (Independent) was declared the new Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner after second preference votes were taken into account with a total of 118,547 votes. Sue Mountstevens is duly elected as Police and Crime Commissioner for the Avon and Somerset police area. She will take up her position on Thursday 12 May, 2016. Full results for all of the candidates have been published on www.avonpccelection2016.org.uk.

The overall turnout was 26.64% with 325,456 votes cast across the whole of the Avon and Somerset area. This represents an increased level of turnout compared to the previous PCC election three years ago (19.59%).
