South Gloucestershire residents are invited to attend a free event at Yate Library to help them make the most of the internet.
South Gloucestershire’s library service has teamed up with staff from Natwest Bank to provide the advice morning, which takes place at Yate Library on Thursday 12 November, from 10am to 12pm.
Throughout the session information technology (IT) volunteers will be on hand to help people get online and show them some key websites, as well as providing advice on how to potentially make savings by shopping online or paying bills using the internet.
Communities Chair Cllr Heather Goddard said: “People who are not online are missing out on savings of £560 per year from shopping and paying bills online according to a Government report.
“This advice session will show people how much they can save through using online energy comparison sites and also online shopping, which is particularly useful at this time of year.”
Supporting the project Graham Biggs, the Local CEO for NatWest Personal and Business Banking said: “Our staff know how important it is to get online and we are pleased to support South Gloucestershire Council in showing people the benefits of the internet – as well as saving money it’s a great way to keep in touch with families and friends.”
No knowledge of the internet is required for the sessions. If people want to see how much money they can save from switching suppliers then they should bring copies of their energy bills.
Booking is recommended by either calling into Yate Library, telephoning 01454 868006 or alternatively just drop in on the day.
