Book a visit to a recycling centre
You must be a South Gloucestershire resident and have booked a timeslot before you can use our Sort It recycling centres.
Bookings can be made for the same day if slots are available, or up to 2 weeks in advance.
If you need help making a booking call us on 01454 868000 or visit one of our One Stop Shops.
Things to note before booking
If you are coming in a restricted vehicle you will need to apply for a permit before you can book a time slot.
It is not possible to book online for visits on foot or by bicycle, you need to call or email us instead to arrange it – follow the instructions in our pedestrian entry guidance note.
You do not need to book if you are only visiting to buy something from the Revive: reuse shop at the Thornbury site.
You can change or cancel your booking using the links in your confirmation email. Please cancel as soon as you can to free up the slot for someone else.
Some items are not accepted at all our centres. Check what you can and cannot take to each location.
Vehicle restrictions
Vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes are not allowed on any site. In addition, trailers cannot be used at Little Stoke. There is also a 1.8m height restriction at this site.
There is no limit to the number of times you can use our recycling centres in a standard vehicle as long as you are not bringing DIY waste. If you are, you can only dispose of 4 boot loads within any 4-week period.
A standard vehicle is one of any size up to 3.5 tonnes designed for domestic use that has rear and/or side facing windows.
If your vehicle does not meet the above criteria it is classed as a restricted vehicle. These are limited to 12 visits a year and require a permit.
Permits for restricted vehicles
You will need to apply for a permit to use the recycling centres in a restricted vehicle.
A restricted vehicle is:
- an open back pick up truck or 4×4, or people carrier without rear seats and/or windows
- a flat bed vehicle, box van, horse box with integrated cab, or an agricultural vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes
Commercial vehicles adapted for people with disabilities also require a permit but the number of visits you can make will not be limited, as long as you are not bringing DIY waste.
